(A.L.J.A.Y. stands for Allan, Leith, Jane, Abigail and Yarrod.)

Allan Vaughan has always had a passion for horses and an inherent psychological link with them enabling him to gain the best outcome for the horse and the horse handler. He has built on his natural talents by travelling to America and working with Bobby Ingersoll, attending clinics in Australia held by Ray Hunt, John Lyons, Al Dunning and several Australian horsepeople, and by studying the techniques of Tom Dorrance and the Jefferies Method. He now utilizes a combination of ideologies to achieve the best results.

His horse career has progressed from the earlier breaking in/starting horses, preparing horses for sales, holding breaking in and training clinics, to latterly building up the Al-Jay Stud and breeding horses for campdrafting, and the prominent polocrosse careers of Leith, Abigail and Yarrod. The Stud has concentrated on utilizing the magnificant ASH bloodlines of Abbey, Cadet, Volplane and Star Black Minstrel, recently infusing some of the great dual registered Doc's Freckles Oak pedigree. The stallions now being used are Rosebrook Pompeii, Rosebrook Kamahl, Coolum Arrow, Ocean Wave, Star Black Minstril and Warrenbri Romeo bloodlines.
